The 2011 Vintage Port Wine from Quinta so Noval Nacional is "Fantastic: 'The legend lives'... "Could be better than the perfect 1994 and equal to the 1963.”
James Suckling gave the maximum score of ***100/100*** to the recent Quinta do Noval Vintage Nacional 2011!
“This wine is a mysterious phenomenon, a magical wine produced in extremely limited quantities and only in a few years each decade. It is the expression of a terroir and confirms something that is for me a deeply held belief. The Nacional is great because of the grapes and where they come from, not because of anything particular that we do.

Vintage Port (MAGNUM) in original wooden case.
This 2011 Vintage Port Wine from Ramos Pinto is deep purple in colour, typical of a young classic Vintage. Elegant and fragrant aroma, a denoted fresh and fruity nose of raspberry and ripened plum, with a touch of resin and mint. In the mouth, it is soft yet full-bodied, a solid structure of polished tannins supports the ripe red fruit, a touch of mineral and freshness, notes of mint and dark chocolate. Power and very tasty end. A classic Vintage.

Vintage Port Single Bottle
The 2011 Taylor's Vintage Port Wine is made only in exceptional years, following the rigorous selection and tasting process to meet the requirements for declaration. Historically Taylor's has only declared a maximum of 3 vintages per decade. 2011 has been hailed as a classic vintage by all accounts. Ideal ripening conditions in this year have led Fladgate wine-maker David Guimaraens to conclude that the 2011s 'stand out for the purity of the fruit and the quality of the tannins, which are silky and well integrated but provide plenty of structure. The 2011 vintage is textbook Taylors in its structured aromatics and elegance (according to Fladgate Managing Director Adrian Bridge).

The sweetness of the wine vies with the acidity to bring out a dense structure, black currant flavors and firm tannins that are strongly integrated into the ripe texture. This is a gorgeous, dense, concentrated wine, coming into balance while showing great structure and potential. (9/2013)

Medoc, Cru Bourgeois
A 2011 vintage Bordeaux wine. This is the beauty of decent Cru Bourgeois Bordeaux if stored well - it makes demands on the taster (patience and consideration). Not a wine from those who prefer to 'pop and pour' who miss out on most of the quality and character.
The 2011 has a good rich colour - browning just a little at the rim. This bottle demands patience when opening as it needs time to develop. Good blackcurrant nose. Plum, damson on the palate with balancing blackcurrant acidity. Dusty tannins on the end palate at first but the tannin softened in the glass, even without food. With food it is excellent.

10 Year Old White Port
A fairly rare style of port, the 10 years old white is characterised by skin contact and oxidative maturation. It is golden in colour, with good acidity, concentration and wood from the long ageing all come together to give a Port that is dry while very rich, with just a hint of orange marmalade flavour.
It is made in the same way as aged tawnies, with slow aging in pipes in the Messias lodges. The white grapes undergo a long period of skin maceration and are foot trodden. Following the addition of grape brandy, the White Port spends a year in large oak vats, followed by ageing in traditional oak pipes for a period of between 7 and 15 years.
