Barros Port, 2011

Late Bottled Vintage Port (Price includes dark mocha leather effect gift box as illustrated) - Delicious with chocolate!

The 2011 Barros is a superb example of LBV Port. It's silky texture leads to powerful flavours that are beautifully balanced. Ruby in colour on the nose there are dark ripe fruit notes, reminiscent of plum, figs and blackcurrants. Full bodied and well balanced it has ripe berry fruit and mulberry flavours.

The Barros Port 2011 Late Bottled Vintage is made by a careful selection of grapes and an extended maceration in order to obtain the necessary richness, colour and intensity needed for a LBV port. Fermentation was arrested by adding grape alcohol in order to produce a naturally sweet wine, which was bottled after 4 years in cask.

Calem Port, 2011

Late Bottled Vintage Port

Includes cardboard outer - this can be replaced with a gift box when you click "buy".

"Scarlet in colour, 99% opaque. Fruit led blackcurrant nose. Silky in texture, the tannins are quick to show in the rich fruit and together these give a lovely development to the palate. This is nice, straightforward and well done LBV port. 88/100. Tasted 05-Mar-15." Review on the ThePortForum.co.uk

Calem Port, 2011

Vintage Port Single Bottle in individual presentation box as illustrated

*** 93-95 Points Robert Parker ***
*** 92 Points Wine Spectator ***

With exceptional 92 points, 2011 Cálem Vintage Port is a wine that, according to Kim Marcus, of Wine Spectator, reveals flavours of "black plums, blackberries and cherries" that "vibrate on the palate" with intense notes of "dark chocolate and spices." This Vintage Port suggests a "powerful control", the result of nobles and "structured tannins", extending the finish. According to Kim Marcus, this is a Vintage Port that follows the "traditional style of wines that need time," and recommends drinking it ideally after 2018.

Chateau Batailley, 2011

Pauillac, 5th Growth Classification

Brilliant, vibrant, with an almost electric precision on both the nose and palate, Ch. Batailley’s 2011 is delicious, even in its youth. It has poise and elegance with lovely fresh blackcurrants on the nose and fine raspberry and blackberry fruit on the palate, mingling harmoniously with an earthy minerality. One to cellar.

Chateau Cantemerle, 2011

Haut Medoc 5th Growth

This is a very good fifth growth from a great 2011 vintage. Beautiful deep inky colour that is opaque against light. Easy drinking with early notes to graphite and chalk. It opens up nicely in the glass. It appears to me to be in the opening stage of the decades long drinking window.

Chateau Haut Beausejour, 2011

Saint-Estephe Cru Bourgeois

This is the little brother of Château de Pez. Blend of 41% Cabernet Sauvignon and 59% Merlot and a clear, purple ruby colour. The nose is fruity and spicy, fresh on the attack, and then evolves on a powerful structure, caused by fine, ripe tannins. Nice balance where the fruit and spices dominate and a great finish with a velvety, fleshy mouth.

With supple, firm tannins, this wine has the austerity of the vintage but the flavours are soft and round with no harshness or rough edges.

Elegant and distinguished, the color is deep and brilliant. It is rich with aromas of blackcurrant and toasted oak. The mouth is fruity with a very solid and persistent structure.

Chateau Montrose , 2011

St Estephe Second Grand Cru classé

*** 89 + Points Robert Parker ***

The dark ruby/purple-coloured, slightly austere and angular 2011 Montrose possesses a more masculine style with firm tannin, medium body, and cassis, black currant and earth notes. The wine tails off slightly on the palate leaving an acidic, tangy character. It will benefit from several more years of cellaring, and should last for 15+ years thereafter. Robert Parker Erobertparker.com 2014.
